New Satellite Stands Join Mother Road Market Kick-Off, TU Tailgate, T-Shirt Design And Other Activities With Funds Raised Benefiting The Lindsey House
Tulsa, Oklahoma, April 11, 2024 -- The Lemon-Aid Project, the city-wide charity event that empowers kids of all ages to be impactful entrepreneurs and philanthropists within their community, and Expo Square, the premier event venue in Tulsa, are partnering to celebrate The Lemon-Aid Project’s 30th anniversary this Labor Day Weekend with the launch of new Satellite Stands. “We are enthused to partner with The Lemon-Aid Project by hosting a Satellite Stand at the iconic Golden Driller Statue,” said Amanda Blair, Chief Operating Officer of Expo Square and Tulsa State Fair. “It is exciting to work with an organization that aligns with giving back to the Tulsa community. Together we are able to expand the impact and serve in a greater capacity. We look forward to being part of the 30th Anniversary and bringing a Fair theme to this year’s outreach, over Labor Day Weekend.” In addition to the Lemon-Aid Project’s tradition of hosting lemonade stands across Tulsa over Labor Day Weekend, the organization is partnering with select Tulsa landmarks and corporate sponsors to create a limited number of “Satellite Stands.” Each stand - which will be decorated by Balloon Therapy – will be hosted at a Tulsa landmark with volunteers from Tulsa area businesses and Tulsa area youth. Expo Square, Philbrook Museum of Art and Southwood Landscape & Garden Center are confirmed locations, with only one more landmark location slot and three Satellite Stand sponsorships still available. “The majority of our stands over the last few years haven’t been just a single child or an individual family; rather, a group of neighbors, a set of classmates, or even an organization coming together to form ‘super-stand’,” said Katie Eller Murray, co-founder and chair of The Lemon-Aid Project. “Partnering with Expo Square and other well-respected Tulsa brands to celebrate our 30th anniversary is a dream come true!” Beyond the Satellite Stands, Lemon-Aid 2024 will continue to include:
“Lemon-Aid showcases what Tulsa is all about: helping our youth learn valuable lessons while also caring for members of our community,” Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum said. “Through their work, Lemon-Aid has helped embed valuable traditions for children of all ages and created a strong community standard for us all. Congratulations to the team at Lemon-Aid for 30 years of service - everyone in Tulsa is wishing you many more years of success.” Through a simple childhood tradition, kids across Tulsa are raising money for local charities, while learning the fundamentals of business, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy — setting our kids and communities on the path to success. Lemon-Aid was the original brainchild of the Eller siblings in 1994, after setting up their own childhood lemonade stand the previous summer and making $26.27. Instead of buying toys, games, or candy, their parents suggested they donate the money to the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. After witnessing another child underneath a table trying to play at the Day Center, the Eller Kids realized their calling. They brainstormed until their one stand became a city-wide lemonade stand, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for those in need each Labor Day Weekend from 1994 - 2000. Since relaunching The Lemon-Aid Project in 2019 in honor of their 25th anniversary, more than $43,000 has been raised by hundreds of Tulsa area youth volunteers with support from hundreds of national and local businesses. “The Lemon-Aid Project has inspired countless children and families to get involved in their community and give back,” said Maggie Hoey, Chief Executive Officer of Lindsey House. “Through a timeless tradition like selling lemonade, kids have a chance to directly help support other kids in our community. The proceeds from each stand will help us continue providing a safe, stable home for women and their children at Lindsey House. We’re grateful for the partnership and looking forward to another successful year.” Lemon-Aid 2024 sponsors and partners also include Pepsi, Mother Road Market, Griffin Communications/K-HIT 106.9, Reasor’s, Tulsa People, University of Tulsa, GitWit, In The Raw, Justin Thompson Restaurant Group, ROAM Communications, and Vast Bank.
