UPDATE
To our volunteers, donors, sponsors and supporters. Thank you for all you have done to bring the Lemon-Aid Project back to life after an extended hiatus.
The health and safety of our volunteers and those who support these young philanthropists is our utmost priority. Given the continued rise in COVID-19 cases in the county, it is nearly impossible for us to effectively implement any kind of social distancing for neighborhood Lemon-Aid stands or a community-wide event. As such, we have decided to postpone all 2020 in-person event and refocus our efforts on Labor Day Weekend 2021.
So much has happened in the last few months, weeks and days here in Tulsa and across the world. Our city and world need time to heal, rebuild and reunite. We feel it would be inappropriate for us to move forward when the hundreds of wonderful Tulsa businesses that supported us last year are either still shuttered or just starting to reopen, when there are social movements that need the sole attention of our citizens, and when it is unclear what next week will look like in terms of the pandemic (let alone 2.5 months from now).
Following suit with our belief that self-sustainability and youth citizenship lead to better, healthier communities, we ask that you consider donating and/or volunteering directly with our charitable partners, as well as supporting Tulsa's amazing businesses as they reopen. Lemon-Aid has always been about 'Kids Helping Kids Helping Tulsa'. Let's expand that idea to 'Tulsa Helping Tulsa' in whatever way we can. You can find more ideas on how to give back HERE.
To encourage and inspire one another, we ask that you post how you are helping Tulsa during this time on Facebook, Instagram or your favorite social platform with #TulsaHelpingTulsa and follow @thelemonaidproject for a chance to be added to a drawing to win your very own Lemon Tree!
We will be creating a "volunteer activity packet" for all interested Tulsa youth. It will include coloring pages, ideas for how to give back to the community and those in need during this time and opportunities to brainstorm other ideas! SIGN UP FOR YOURS TODAY!
We are also going to reopen the Lemon-Aid t-shirt contest - completely virtually. Designs will be accepted HERE until July 10. We are also asking that all supporters wear these t-shirts, available on pre-order now for a donation of $15 with proceeds going to Lindsey House, over the Labor Day Weekend, even though we won't be holding actual Lemon-Aid stands. Let's paint the town YELLOW!!
We look forward to seeing you out with a cool glass of Lemon-Aid next summer! Until then let's continue making a difference in our community in any way we can.
Be safe and be kind,
Katie & The Lemon-Aid Project Crew
