This Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) describes how The Lemon-Aid Project, Inc. (the “Organization,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a California nonprofit public benefit corporation recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, conducting its charitable activities and events in Tulsa, Oklahoma, collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information through our website at https://www.thelemonaidproject.org/ (the “Site”).

We do not use third-party tracking pixels (such as Meta Pixel), Google Analytics, or similar tools that would intercept, record, or transmit your communications or browsing activity to third parties. This disclosure describes the Site’s configuration as of the Effective Date and Last Updated date of this Policy set forth above. If the Organization determines in the future that it wishes to deploy any cookie, analytics tool, session-replay or screen-recording software, chat or chatbot feature, or other similar tracking technology on the Site, it will first update this Policy and the Terms of Use to disclose that technology and will implement any consent mechanism required by applicable law before such deployment.
However, Weebly/Squarespace, as our hosting provider, may automatically collect certain basic technical information when you visit the Site to operate and secure its platform, which may include:

When you register as a volunteer, we collect information through the Volunteer Waiver, Release of Liability, and Assumption of Risk Agreement (the “Volunteer Waiver”). If a parent or legal guardian registers a minor volunteer, the parent/guardian provides information on the minor’s behalf. We may collect the following categories of personal information:
We may host the Volunteer Waiver and other forms on Google Forms, a service provided by Google LLC. If you submit any form via Google, your data is transmitted to and processed by Google in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). By submitting a form via Google, you acknowledge that your information will be processed by Google as a third-party service provider and that your submission constitutes your electronic signature and agreement to the form submitted.

Our Volunteer Waiver includes an optional field for volunteers (or parents/guardians of minor volunteers) to disclose medical conditions or allergies. This information is collected solely for emergency care purposes — specifically, to provide relevant medical history to emergency responders if a volunteer requires emergency medical treatment during Volunteer Activities and the volunteer or parent/guardian cannot be immediately reached. Under both the OCDPA and CPRA, information concerning a consumer’s health is classified as sensitive data or sensitive personal information. By voluntarily disclosing medical conditions or allergies on the Volunteer Waiver, you consent to our collection and use of this information for the limited emergency care purpose described above. We do not use health information for any other purpose, and we do not share it with third parties except as necessary to seek emergency medical treatment. Disclosure of medical conditions or allergies is entirely optional and will not affect your ability to volunteer.

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include SSL/TLS encryption for data in transit, access controls limiting personnel access to personal data, and secure hosting environments.

The Lemon-Aid Project’s mission centers on empowering children and youth. We take the privacy of children very seriously and are committed to compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”).
8.1 No Knowing Collection from Children Under 13
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent. Where our Site offers registration, sign-up, or other interactive features that may involve children under 13, we require that a parent or legal guardian submit the information on behalf of the child or provide verifiable parental consent before any personal information is collected.
8.2 Parental/Guardian Involvement
We encourage parents and guardians to actively participate in their children’s online activities and to assist children under 13 in using our Site. If your child wishes to participate in any of our programs, including lemonade stand kit registration or volunteer sign-up, we ask that a parent or guardian complete the registration process.
Where a volunteer is a minor (under 18), we collect the required parent or legal guardian consent and contact information in connection with the Volunteer Waiver, Release of Liability, and Assumption of Risk Agreement, as well as the liability waiver provisions described in our Terms of Use (Section 9 — Volunteer Sign-Up and Participation). The parent or guardian must sign the Volunteer Waiver on behalf of the minor, agreeing to the assumption of risk, release of liability, indemnification, emergency medical treatment authorization, and photograph/media release provisions. This parental consent requirement is consistent with our COPPA obligations described in Section 8.1 above. The parent or guardian’s name, contact information, relationship to the minor, and waiver acknowledgment are collected as described in Section 2.3 of this Policy and retained in accordance with Section 7 (Data Retention).

9.1 California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)

9.4 Sensitive Personal Information
Under the CPRA, California residents have the right to limit a business’s use and disclosure of “sensitive personal information,” which includes information revealing racial or ethnic origin and information concerning a consumer’s health. As described in Section 2.4, we collect race or ethnicity information through our Volunteer Waiver on a voluntary basis. As described in Section 2.5, our Volunteer Waiver collects optional medical conditions or allergies information for emergency care purposes. We use race/ethnicity information only for aggregated demographic reporting and program evaluation purposes, and we use health information only for emergency medical treatment purposes. We do not use this information for profiling, targeted advertising, or purposes requiring an opt-out right under the CPRA. Because we limit our use of sensitive personal information to purposes permitted under Civil Code Section 1798.121(a), the right to limit does not apply. However, if you wish to withdraw your consent for us to retain your race/ethnicity or health data, you may contact us at the information provided in Section 14 to request deletion of that information.
10. NOTICE TO THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES
The Oklahoma Consumer Data Privacy Act (OCDPA), effective January 1, 2027, grants Oklahoma residents certain rights regarding their personal data. While the OCDPA exempts nonprofit organizations from its scope, we provide the following disclosures in the interest of transparency for our Oklahoma volunteers and supporters:
10.1 Sensitive Data Under Oklahoma Law
Under the OCDPA, “sensitive data” includes personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, mental or physical health diagnosis, sexual orientation, or citizenship or immigration status, as well as genetic or biometric data processed to identify an individual, personal data collected from a known child, and precise geolocation data. Our Volunteer Waiver collects race or ethnicity information as described in Section 2.4, and collects optional medical conditions or allergies information as described in Section 2.5. By voluntarily providing this information, you consent to our processing it for the limited purposes described in those sections. We process personal data collected from known children (volunteers under age 13) in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), as required by the OCDPA.
10.2 Data Minimization
Consistent with the OCDPA’s data minimization principles, we limit our collection of personal data to information that is adequate, relevant, and reasonably necessary for the purposes disclosed in this Policy. We do not collect personal data beyond what is needed to register volunteers, coordinate events, communicate about our programs, and fulfill our charitable mission.

The Organization may collect information that users voluntarily provide when interacting with its official social media pages, including but not limited to comments, direct messages, tagged photographs, and other content shared on or through the Organization’s social media accounts. The Organization may use such interactions for community engagement, event promotion, fundraising, and communications consistent with its charitable mission.
Each social media platform (including Facebook and Instagram) maintains its own separate privacy policy and terms of service governing the collection, use, and disclosure of data on that platform. The Organization does not control the data practices of these third-party platforms and is not responsible for their privacy or security practices. Users are encouraged to review the applicable platform’s privacy policy and terms of service for information about how those platforms collect and use personal data.
Photographs, videos, or other content shared publicly by volunteers, event participants, or community members on social media — including photographs tagged with the Organization’s accounts or hashtags from Lemon-Aid events — may be reposted, shared, or referenced by the Organization for its promotional and fundraising purposes, consistent with the Photograph, Video, and Media Release terms described in the Terms of Use (Section 9.6) and the Volunteer Waiver.
Consistent with Section 8 (Children’s Privacy) of this Policy and our obligations under COPPA, the Organization does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13 years of age through its social media accounts. We encourage parents and guardians to supervise any interaction their children may have with the Organization’s social media accounts and to report any concerns to us at the contact information in Section 14 below.

- Parent or legal guardian’s full name, relationship to the minor volunteer, phone number, and email address (required for volunteers under 18)
- Race or ethnicity (see Section 2.4 — Sensitive Data below)
- Stand type preference (Individual/Neighborhood Stand, Satellite Stand, School Stand, or Virtual Stand)
- Stand location zip code (for Individual Stands)
- Weekend event volunteer interest (Kit Set Up, Kick-Off Event, TU Tailgate)
- Kit selection preference (Full Kit, Poster & T-Shirt Only, or No Kit Needed)
- Extra t-shirt orders (optional, paid)
- Volunteer training attendance confirmation (August 12 orientation)
- Optional comments or stand details you choose to share
- Event, location, and/or date of participation

Under both the Oklahoma Consumer Data Privacy Act (effective January 1, 2027) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), information revealing racial or ethnic origin is classified as “sensitive data” or “sensitive personal information” requiring specific disclosure and, in certain circumstances, affirmative consent before processing.
- By voluntarily providing your race or ethnicity on the Volunteer Waiver, you consent to our collection and use of this information for the purposes described in this Policy. We use race and ethnicity data solely for the following limited purposes:
- To compile aggregated, de-identified demographic statistics about our volunteer base for internal program evaluation, grant reporting, and community outreach planning;
- To help us understand the diversity of the communities we serve and tailor our outreach efforts; and
- To fulfill grant or funder reporting requirements that require aggregated demographic data.
- We do not use your individual race or ethnicity data for profiling, targeted advertising, or any purpose that could result in discriminatory treatment. We do not sell or share your race or ethnicity data with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. If you prefer not to provide race or ethnicity information, you may skip that question on the Volunteer Waiver without affecting your ability to volunteer.

- To manage volunteer sign-ups and administer the Volunteer Waiver, including: coordinating event logistics and volunteer scheduling; communicating about volunteer opportunities; contacting emergency contacts in case of a safety incident during Volunteer Activities; seeking emergency medical treatment on behalf of a volunteer if authorized in the Volunteer Waiver and the volunteer or parent/guardian cannot be immediately reached; administering the waiver and release of liability described in our Terms of Use (Section 9) and the Volunteer Waiver; verifying parental/guardian consent for minor volunteers; and honoring photograph/media release preferences
- To send newsletters, updates, and communications about our programs and mission (where you have opted in)
- To improve, maintain, and analyze the use of our Site
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share personal information in the following limited circumstances:
- Payment Processors: When you make a donation, your payment information is transmitted directly to one of our third-party payment processors, Paypal and Stripe (either directly or through our third-party donor platforms, Donorbox and Donordock), which process the transaction in accordance with their own privacy policy.
- Service Providers: We may share information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the Site, conducting our programs, or servicing you (e.g., Mailchimp, Weebly/Squarespace, Donorbox, or Donordock). These providers are contractually required to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- Protection of Rights: We may disclose information to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Lemon-Aid Project, Inc., our users, or others.

9.1 California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)
In compliance with CalOPPA, we make the following disclosures:
- This Policy is accessible via a conspicuous link on our homepage.
- We describe the categories of personal information collected and the third parties with whom such information may be shared.
- Users may review our Policy for changes by revisiting this page.
9.2 “Do Not Track” Signals
Our Site does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” (DNT) browser signals. There is no uniform standard for recognizing or honoring DNT signals, and we will update this Policy if a standard is adopted in the future.
9.3 California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) / California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA)
To the extent that the CCPA or CPRA applies to The Lemon-Aid Project, Inc. (noting that many nonprofit organizations and organizations with gross revenues below the statutory threshold may be exempt), California residents may have certain rights, including:
- The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, or sell;
- The right to request deletion of personal information;
- The right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information); and
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising CCPA/CPRA rights.
We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA. If you are a California resident and wish to exercise any applicable rights, please contact us at the information provided in Section 14.
9.4 Sensitive Personal Information
Under the CPRA, California residents have the right to limit a business’s use and disclosure of “sensitive personal information,” which includes information revealing racial or ethnic origin and information concerning a consumer’s health. As described in Section 2.4, we collect race or ethnicity information through our Volunteer Waiver on a voluntary basis. As described in Section 2.5, our Volunteer Waiver collects optional medical conditions or allergies information for emergency care purposes. We use race/ethnicity information only for aggregated demographic reporting and program evaluation purposes, and we use health information only for emergency medical treatment purposes. We do not use this information for profiling, targeted advertising, or purposes requiring an opt-out right under the CPRA. Because we limit our use of sensitive personal information to purposes permitted under Civil Code Section 1798.121(a), the right to limit does not apply. However, if you wish to withdraw your consent for us to retain your race/ethnicity or health data, you may contact us at the information provided in Section 14 to request deletion of that information.
10. NOTICE TO THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES
The Oklahoma Consumer Data Privacy Act (OCDPA), effective January 1, 2027, grants Oklahoma residents certain rights regarding their personal data. While the OCDPA exempts nonprofit organizations from its scope, we provide the following disclosures in the interest of transparency for our Oklahoma volunteers and supporters:
10.1 Sensitive Data Under Oklahoma Law
Under the OCDPA, “sensitive data” includes personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, mental or physical health diagnosis, sexual orientation, or citizenship or immigration status, as well as genetic or biometric data processed to identify an individual, personal data collected from a known child, and precise geolocation data. Our Volunteer Waiver collects race or ethnicity information as described in Section 2.4, and collects optional medical conditions or allergies information as described in Section 2.5. By voluntarily providing this information, you consent to our processing it for the limited purposes described in those sections. We process personal data collected from known children (volunteers under age 13) in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), as required by the OCDPA.
10.2 Data Minimization
Consistent with the OCDPA’s data minimization principles, we limit our collection of personal data to information that is adequate, relevant, and reasonably necessary for the purposes disclosed in this Policy. We do not collect personal data beyond what is needed to register volunteers, coordinate events, communicate about our programs, and fulfill our charitable mission.

Oklahoma residents who have questions about our data practices or wish to request information about the personal data we have collected may contact us using the information provided in Section 14.
11. Links to Third-Party Websites
Our Site may contain links to third-party websites, services, or platforms (e.g., social media pages, partner charity websites, fundraising platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of these third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit. The inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement of the linked site by The Lemon-Aid Project, Inc.

The Organization may collect information that users voluntarily provide when interacting with its official social media pages, including but not limited to comments, direct messages, tagged photographs, and other content shared on or through the Organization’s social media accounts. The Organization may use such interactions for community engagement, event promotion, fundraising, and communications consistent with its charitable mission.
Each social media platform (including Facebook and Instagram) maintains its own separate privacy policy and terms of service governing the collection, use, and disclosure of data on that platform. The Organization does not control the data practices of these third-party platforms and is not responsible for their privacy or security practices. Users are encouraged to review the applicable platform’s privacy policy and terms of service for information about how those platforms collect and use personal data.
Photographs, videos, or other content shared publicly by volunteers, event participants, or community members on social media — including photographs tagged with the Organization’s accounts or hashtags from Lemon-Aid events — may be reposted, shared, or referenced by the Organization for its promotional and fundraising purposes, consistent with the Photograph, Video, and Media Release terms described in the Terms of Use (Section 9.6) and the Volunteer Waiver.
Consistent with Section 8 (Children’s Privacy) of this Policy and our obligations under COPPA, the Organization does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13 years of age through its social media accounts. We encourage parents and guardians to supervise any interaction their children may have with the Organization’s social media accounts and to report any concerns to us at the contact information in Section 14 below.
12. Your Rights and Choices
You may exercise the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access and Correction: You may request access to or correction of the personal information we hold about you by contacting us at the address below.
- Opt-Out of Communications: You may opt out of receiving marketing or newsletter communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly. Please note that even if you opt out of marketing communications, we may still send you transactional messages related to your donations or event registrations.
- Deletion: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions (e.g., legal record-keeping requirements).
13. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to modify or update this Policy at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (e.g., by email or a prominent notice on our Site). Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
